4th International CTI Symposium China

Many automotive suppliers participated in the CTI symposium. Dr. Rolf Gall, Head of R&D, Asia Pacific; Head of Engineering Center, ZF (China) Investment Co., Ltd. gave a presentation of the role of testing in transmission development. ZF has reduced the test duration by 50% by using automated transmission testing on test bench. Currently 5-8 transmission prototypes are possible to be tested every day. Dr. Gall further addressed that Chinese automotive companies have improved in the last years, but still need to build-up their competence. On the other hand, western companies should adapt their products to Chinese market with respect to the very different demand in China. Mr. Martin Bahne, Senior Manager Attributes & Technical Excellence, GETRAG International GmbH introduced their robust transmission development and verification process for future challenges including diverse vehicle applications affecting product development requirements and new approaches to achieve robust design and verification strategies.

The automotive suppliers also introduced their latest transmission and hybrid powertrain modules and components to the symposium e.g. PUNCH Powergilide 6-speed AT with modular construction and ability for hybrid drivetrain, PUNCH Powertrain mild and micro hybridization of CVTs, FEV hybrid planetary module with one e-motor, one planetary gear and no launch device, Schaeffler 2-speed electric axle with coverage from 48V to high voltage, AVL high speed e-motor with high power density and electric drive train, Valeo dual battery architectures, Simens eCar Powertrain System including e-motor, power electronics and charging device and 3-speed EV transmission with shifting system capable of power shifting from Evolute Drives.
